Running

I started running in 2019 and completed my first ever race in October ’19 – the Cambridge Town and Gown 10k. After resting over the Winter, I resumed training in Spring 2020 as the Covid-19 lockdown proved to be the perfect opportunity for this – empty roads, lots of free time and some great weather.

Some books I read around this time which inspired me to push past 10k and aim for longer distances are:

  1. Haruki Murakami – What I Talk About When I Talk About Running
  2. Christopher McDougall – Born to Run: A Hidden Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen

My next aim is to run a half marathon; hopefully a full marathon after than. I’m not entirely convinced about the ultramarathons – I don’t think I have an appetite for that level of masochism! Then again, life is but a hamster wheel of chasing ever-greater heights – so who knows, maybe I will one day consider them!
